Welcome to Girlguiding
Hinchley Wood’s Centenary Heritage Project on-line. Whether you are a member
of Girlguiding or not, we hope that you enjoy looking around our website.
A little bit on the project.
The Centenary of Girlguiding UK during 2009/2010, presented an ideal opportunity to put on exhibitions of our extensive and
exciting Girlguiding history.
We decided to pursue
this project after the excellent feedback we received
after a one off exhibition back in July 2008. Following this, we wished to
create a project that encouraged current members, aged 10-25, to develop
their knowledge, skills and interest in the heritage of their units.
A bid was submitted to the Young Roots Heritage Lottery Fund for grants to
aid our project. We were
successful in our bid and were rewarded a grant of £15,000.
We put together several exhibitions during 2010 about
Girlguiding in Hinchley Wood and the Dittons District.
Our exhibitions have featured at the Dittons Library, Thames Ditton,
St Christopher’s Church, Hinchley Wood and the Clore Learning Centre at
Hampton Court Palace.
